Print & Fold Tips

The following information may be helpful for printing and folding the tracts. Make all folds on a hard surface to get a good crease. Select here, FOLDED TRACT SAMPLES, to view the finished products.

For six panel (all tracts except the other categories listed below) tracts with two folds:

  1. For pdf file printing, use 8-1/2” x 11” paper size. Select Custom Scale “100%”. Select orientation “landscape”. Select “print on both sides of paper”. Select “flip on the long edge”. Print a two sided sample copy of the tract. If the reverse side of the tract is upside down compared to the front side of the tract, then select “flip on the short edge” and print a sample copy again to verify correct final orientation of the tract.
  2. Position the uncut tracts in the landscape orientation. Make a light pencil horizontal line on the back side (last page) of the tract at the middle between the top and bottom halves. Cut horizontally the printed copy to produce two unfolded tracts.
  3. Fold each tract in thirds. Fold the title page first.
  4. Next fold the remaining part of the tract under the title page.
  5. Check that the folds do not occur on any printed words. If so, fold again so that the fold occurs in a blank space of the tract.

For “Quick Quiz…” with multiple folds:

  1. Set the printer on landscape orientation and 8-1/2” x 11” paper size. Select Custom Scale “100%”. Select “print on both sides of paper”. Select “flip on the long edge”. Print a two sided sample copy of the tract. If the reverse side of the tract is upside down compared to the front side of the tract, then select “flip on the short edge” and print a sample copy again to verify correct final orientation of the tract.
  2. Fold the tract in half with the title page on top.
  3. Next fold the tract in thirds. The first fold is halfway between the bottom of the title page and the title INTRODUCTION on the next part of the tract.
  4. Next fold the ANSWER TO THE QUIZ section up to cover the INTRODUCTION section of the tract. The back of the folded tract will show the space available to insert the contact information.

For the four panel tracts “Why I’m Going…” and “Invitation” with one fold:

  1. Use 8-1/2” x 14” paper size. Select Custom Scale “100%”. Select orientation “landscape”. Select “print on both sides of paper”. Select “flip on the long edge”. Print a two sided sample copy of the tract. If the reverse side of the tract is upside down compared to the front side of the tract, then select “flip on the short edge” and print a sample copy again to verify correct final orientation of the tract.
  2. Position the uncut tracts in the landscape orientation. Make a light pencil vertical line on the back side (last page) of the tract at the midpoint of the sheet (7” from the end). Cut vertically the printed copy to produce two unfolded tracts on each side of the cut.
  3. Next make a light pencil horizontal line on the back side (last page) of the tract at the midpoint of each sheet produced in step 2 above. Cut horizontally each half of step two above to produce two tracts. This will give a total of four unfolded tracts.
  4. Fold each tract in half.
  5. Check that the folds do not occur on any printed words. If so, fold again so that the fold occurs in a blank space of the tract.
  6. For “Invitation”, use 8-1/2” x 11” paper size with portrait orientation and use similar procedure as above.
